The lens is placed on the index finger. If the finger has a drop of solution on it, the lens will he held on the finger by surface tension. The other fingers should be dry so a good grip can be obtained on the lids. The lens should be kept to the side of the patient’s eye until you are ready to place it on the cornea. Then quickly bring the lens in front of the eye and gently place it on the cornea. Do not start with the lens directly in front of the eye and slowly bring it towards the patient-the patient will want to back away from you. Have the patient fixate a distance object and tell them to keep both eyes open. TALK to the patient while doing the placement. They should be thinking about what you are telling them, not what you are doing.
